“We are building more than walls,” he stated. “We are building hope, pride, and a solid future for Irete children. This project is not for ICDU alone; it belongs to every proud indigene and resident of Irete.”

He called on all Irete sons and daughters—home and abroad—to support the initiative and make history together. “As we mark this beginning, let it also be the beginning of new thinking and action towards collective progress. We welcome more donations and volunteers. Let’s write Irete’s success story together,” he said.
The school revamp includes structural renovations of Blocks A to D, improved classroom furnishings, modern toilet facilities, office spaces, and a dedicated sports pitch. Generous individuals such as Rev. Fr. Uchenna Njoku, Mr. Philian Duru, and Aunty Vicky Ogbuehi have already taken on major blocks and pledged full renovations.
According to the project timeline shared by the ICDU executive, work will begin immediately, with a target to complete renovations ahead of the new school term. The total project budget stands at N50 million, and efforts are ongoing to raise the remaining funds needed to fully execute all planned upgrades.
Community members who attended the event were visibly enthusiastic, taking photos and sharing moments from the ceremony. The groundbreaking event was also streamed live on the official YouTube Channel of DSG HERALD NEWS, attracting viewers from the diaspora and other parts of Nigeria.
Donations toward the project are still open, and interested supporters are encouraged to contact ICDU or reach out through the official media channels.
