Born on 16th April 1946 in Kano State to Chief A. A. Duru and Ezinne Lolo Florence Duru, Noble Lady Theresa Emenalo was the first of eight children. Her life reflected resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment to education and faith.
Educational Excellence and Teaching Career
From St. Louis Primary School, Kano, she advanced to Maryfield T.T.C. Ughelli in Delta State before transferring to Sacred Hearts TTC Ubiaja, Edo State, where she completed her Teacher’s Certificate. In 1965, she distinguished herself as one of just nine successful candidates out of ninety-three who sat for the TC examination, earning a distinction in English.
She later attended A.I.C.E. (1977–1979), graduating with merit and distinction in music and education. Her teaching career spanned Agbor, Oguta, and Umuahia, where she rose to Principal Grade I, retiring in December 2000 after decades of molding young minds.
Family Life and War-Time Resilience
Her marriage to Noble Sir Eugene Emenalo on 16th January 1970 blessed her with six children. During the Nigerian Civil War, she returned to her hometown Amucha and also worked in the administration of the Republic of Benin (R.O.B.) in Orlu before resuming her teaching service.

The Life and Legacy of Noble Lady Emenalo extended deeply into the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), where she served in several leadership capacities, including President of St. Finbarr’s CWO Umuahia, President of Deanery II, Umuahia Diocese, and President of Home and Abroad CWO, St. Patrick’s Parish Amucha. She also headed committees and contributed to parish and diocesan growth.
Knighthood and Distinguished Service in KSJI
Her rise within the Ancient and Noble Order of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) was one of honor and dedication. Initiated on 15th September 1984 into the Ladies Auxiliary, she became the charter Respected President of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Auxiliary 396, Umuahia.

- Grand Respected President, Owerri Grand Ladies Auxiliary, KSJI (2007–2009)
