The 2024 Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is currently underway in Lagos, showcasing the best of African cinema under the theme “Indigenous to Global: Cultural Wealth to Global Prosperity.” Running from November 3 to 9, the festival highlights African storytelling through screenings, awards, and discussions aimed at bridging local narratives with global audiences. This year’s lineup includes 150 films from across Africa and the Diaspora, covering a range of genres and topics.
AFRIFF 2024 opened with Headless, a Nigerian crime thriller by director Michael Ndiomu, and will close with Out of Breath by Obi Emelonye, a film celebrating Igbo culture. Special guests include notable figures like John Boyega and Skepta, and the festival also marks a collaboration with streaming platforms like Showmax, which is premiering the original series Princess on a Hill
